"Hammer! Inzwischen kann ich`s ja ausspucken, „Neuanstrich“ hätte ich liebend gerne auf Twisted Chords veröffentlicht und Kobayashi sind definitiv eine der besten deutschen Bands dieser Tage. Nach diversen 7“`s, Split-7“`s, Compilationbeiträgen und der schon wunderbaren „Disko“-LP nun also das zweite Album, was einfach alles bisher dagewesene toppt. Die Songs sind vielschichtiger und abwechslungsreicher, die Aufnahme ist superfett geworden und lässt sowohl Musik als auch Text wesentlich besser zur Geltung kommen als zuvor, die Texte sind auch weiterhin außergewöhnlich, tiefgehend, geil und packend und das Layout der ganzen Scheibe ist einfach wunderbar. Was hätte ich das Ding hier gerne gemacht, aber es ging einfach nicht. Beim nächsten Mal garantiert! Politisch aufgelandener, druckvoller und emotionaler Punkrock, der zwar die alten Helden immer im Hinterkopf hat, aber einfach seinen eigenen Sound gefunden hat und damit ganz weit vorne landet. Herz, Charme, Power und das alles von Männern jenseits der 30, die auf Trends und den Zeitgeist scheissen, sondern einfach wissen, was sie tun. "Kobayashi reißen mich auch auf ihrem zwoten Longplayer mit, wie eh und je. Irgendwie schaffen sie es, dass sie auch auf ihrer insgesamt sechsten (?) Veröffentlichung meinen Ass zu kicken. Ich mag die noisigen distortion-Gitarren und den ziemlich eigenständigen Gesang von der Anklagebank. Das liegt wohl auch an der ehrlichen Euphorie, die bei aller Kritik und Pessimismus rüber kommt.
Kobayashi halten an ihrem alten Motto fest, "Freiräume zu erkämpfen und diese auch weiterhin zu stützen. Inspiration, Kommunikation und Information sind die Schlüssel", so Roberto im Trust Zine#121, weil man dort "dann eben zumindest mal für einen Abend das "Schweinesystem" ein Stück weit aussperren kann. Aber die neuen Texte sind auch in der Hinsicht tatsächlich anders als unser alter Kram: immer noch politisch, aber Selbstzweifel kann man hier und da auch ganz gut ablesen", schränkt Peter ein.
Textblatt in Spanisch und Englisch liegt bei, ein japanisches 4seiten Booklet purzelt auch noch heraus. 13 Songs mit so Titeln wie "Flächenweise Mpeg", "Kopfkino" oder "Worte wecken Bilder", die allesamt beim Role in der Tonmeisterei (Jet Black, El Mariachi, Katzenstreik, Mallorys Last Dance etc.) aufgenommen ist. "This 2nd album of Germany's KOBAYASHI that used Japanese for the band name (it is a popular family name in Japan) is just their best staff as extolled by all DIY punk/hardcore labels which is intimate with them in Germany. They play very outstanding melodic punk/hardcore that is not able to be compared to any band, and all the songs are powerful truly. Although each of the songs are abundant also in variations, there is their consistent color. Intelligent, unique and deep personal-political lyrics are filled with passion for our unknown, and the consideration/dissident's mind for all the lies in this society, although a prospect is not bright. Moreover, it is amazing that the contents of the lyrics and the style of the songs fit exquisiteness. The lyrics are translated into English, Spanish, and Japanese (the Japanese translations were translated by Acclaim. By the way, their lyrics became the factor to which we love them more and more in process in which we translate the lyrics into Japanese. It mean the connection of more than music for us).
